Life Got In The Way

You were always near
That spark which lit my world
That constant which was always there
But somehow life got in the way

I turned one day
When I noticed the spark was dimmer
You were still there, but not here
As I let life get in the way

Another has grabbed and relit that spark
And I watched it flare
As it moved away
And nothing is there now for life to get in the way of

To late I’ve realized
That somewhere
Between yesterday and today
I let life get in the way of you and me

And if somewhere
Between today and tomorrow
I chance to find another spark
I will nourish and cherish it
And not let life get in the way
